The Solar SP C-Tech Memory Foam Sleep System MKII takes the MKII bedchair and builds the bag into it — a dual-layer, 5 season duvet system under a SolarTex D 20k waterproof shell, sat on top of the same 6cm Memory 6 mattress. One item off the barrow, one less thing to forget, and nothing to slide off the side of the bed in the night.

Why the MKII sleep system beats a bed and bag

  • Dual-layer 5 season duvet — Solar rate it from -10°C through to hot summer nights. Run both layers in January, strip back to one in May, and you are not buying a second bag for the shoulder months.
  • SolarTex D 20k waterproof outer — the top of your bag is the bit that gets condensation dripping on it all night. A 20k shell means you wake up dry rather than damp.
  • Memory 6, 6cm 50-density mattress — built into the frame with layflat lumbar support, so the bed underneath is the full MKII, not a thinner one to offset the duvet.
  • Oversized baffle and easy-slide anti-snag zips — the baffle stops cold air tracking down the zip line, and the zips actually run when you are half asleep with cold hands.
  • Oversized oval legs, Spring-Loc, 225kg+ — a loaded sleep system is heavier than a bare bed, and the leg system is built for it.
  • Compression straps separate from the leg locks — pack the whole thing down inside the bivvy with the legs open and the mattress off the wet ground.

Sizing and fit

208 x 90 x 40–52cm, 19.4kg, rated 225kg+. That 19.4kg is the honest trade: roughly 4.5kg more than the bare Solar SP C-Tech Memory Foam Bedchair MKII, but it replaces a separate sleeping bag, so the total carry usually comes out lower. Standard 90cm width. For 100cm of sleeping space, go to the Solar SP C-Tech Memory Foam Sleep System MKII Wide. The frame carries connection points for Solar's lightweight shroud, which is sold separately.

Complete the setup

Pair it with the Solar SP C-Tech Tackle Caryall System to keep the rest of your kit in the same range. If your budget stops short of £550, the Solar Worldwide Sleep System is the alternative bed-and-bag at £379.99. Full range on our bedchairs page.
