The BASIX Weigh Sling (along with the Basix Cradle) is perfect for youngsters; anglers new to the sport; those on a limited budget; occasional anglers; and anyone who simply doesn’t want to spend a lot of money, to ensure fish safely is prioritised but not compromised.

NOTE: The BASIX Weigh Sling MUST NOT be used as a retainer.

This is a traditional weigh sling, but with some additional features, which has been designed to allow you to safely transfer fish from the water to your unhooking mat, and vice versa, and to weigh them – it isn’t a retainer and can’t be safely used for that purpose.

This weigh sling is constructed from a durable nylon material and is long and deep enough to weigh any carp that you are likely to catch in the UK, and is also suitable for use overseas on many venues. It features strong, lightweight powder-coated two-piece metal bars at the top, to give rigidity and to help make the weighing process safer for the fish. When not in use these bars can easily be split in the middle – they are elasticated - and the sling folded back into the compact stink bag that is supplied with it (the folded length allows it to fit inside the Basix Cradle unhooking mat or inside an exterior pocket on a Compac Rod Holdall).

A strong webbing strap is attached to the bars on each side and give good balance once they are attached to the hook on your scales, allowing the fish to be weighed safely. It features plenty of large drainage holes along the bottom, so once the fish is transferred into it in the margins, in your rolled up landing net, the water will quickly drain out when you lift it out and carry it to your unhooking mat.

A good quality, free-running zip at each end of the sling ensures that the fish can’t slide out during transit or weighing, and is easy to do up or undo. The sling has been designed to float, so as to enable the easy transfer of the fish and rolled up net into it in the water – this ensures no lifting of the net is required, thus reducing the risks of splitting or damaging the fins and tail. The box that the Basix Weigh Sling is supplied in features a step-by-step guide on the best weighing practice.
